News iconDay 7 : You would never think Charity Work was this tough....

This News article was posted by CrazyJoe at 11:09 AM on January 07, 2005

I have everything I need to make Ebay Auctions Legit.
I have everything I need from Red Cross to ensure this website is legit and legal.
I have everything I need to make the money given to me and given to charities legit so the IRS won't get me by the jibbleys.

That's the Good News. Let me give you the run down of everything I had to do....

On advice of my Tax Agent, I hit up my bank today and open a new Free Checking Account.

I have registered on Ebay the account "gamerscharity".

I have registered on Paypal the account for "crazyjoe@gamerscharity.com"

I have the code for "DONATE NOW" for GamersCharity and emails Beans to fix the link in my front page and tell me how I can do it.

I have received a call from Erica Wright of the American Red Cross. As long as I register with Mission Fish on Ebay, I can put "Red Cross" in the Auction anywhere, say anything about me donating. I can state - as an individual - on my website basically "I - Crazy Joe - will be giving all money raised through my auctions to Red Cross (or any charity". Because Mission Fish backs up this statement. Since I have a new checking account and paypal, all donations can easily be verified by the IRS that go to the Charities - so that is NOT an issue.

I have registered with Mission Fish.

Mission Fish, Ebay, Paypal, Checking Account all are connected to one another. We are READY to Ebay!

Mission Fish lets you pick the Charity for the Auction and there are a LOT.

I decide any gold and items I am holding NOW will go to American Red Cross - because that is what I said I will do and I can not go back on my promise for ANY reason.

Any gold I collect off Vendors from now on will go to American Red Cross or any Charity I find to be better suited for the Tsunami Victims. This may take awhile to find as there are a LOT of them.

Any Items and Gold given to me in PERSON, the donator may tell me which Charity he or she wishes to donate to, and you tell me from this list.

Mission Fish has a smaller list - just for Tsunami Relief ! I see American Red Cross there.

So folks, guess what.

That's it. We are ready to go.

But Wait! Queen Mum is a bit confused, and I think maybe since I did all this work and I am familiar with it, maybe others don't understand - so let me explain.

To sell on Ebay for Charity you MUST sell through "Mission Fish". Basically I am running the auction and everything and say it's for Charity. You bid on it on Ebay. Items sells. You send ME the money, through Paypal or Money Order. The Paypal is the NEW Paypal, or money order into NEW checking account. I have several days to make the delivery. Mission fish charges MY ACCOUNT the amount I wish to donate (which will be 95%, I keep 5% for Ebay and Paypal Fees).

So basically - I NEVER TOUCH your money. The ONLY money I "touch" is the direct paypal donations, but as I get those I will send them straight to American Red Cross (or whowever you tell me to from the Mission Fish List)

I hope now I explained 'why' this is all legitimate.

Basically, we have totally removed the whole "Crazy Joe gets the Money" scenario which is why Ebay, Red Cross, and IRS are involved in this whole mess. Since I don't hold the money - and I went through the proper channels and procedures - we are ready to go.

I have learned one thing about Charity Auctions - there is NO BUY IT NOW. It's for Charity folks, they want as much as they can get. This makes sense.

They also need to approve of the Auction -- how much you people want to bet this is going to become a problem?

Anyway, we'll see in 24 hours.

Sell Your Item: Item Submitted Thank you for submitting your item, 5 Million Gold Lake Superior UO GamersCharity, to benefit American Red Cross !

The nonprofit has the option to accept or decline your offer. You will be notified within one business day of their decision. If it's accepted, your item will be uploaded to eBay within an hour.

You can check the status of this item in your My MissionFish account.

It took roughly 5-6 hours.
